[MyWorld] First Warm Day in Old Town Bucharest

My first week in Romania was bone chilling. But on Sunday the sun shone warmly and the temperature rose by at least a dozen degrees. All of Bucharest came out to enjoy this first spring day.

These photos were taken in Lipscani, the renovated historical center of the city that only a few years ago was a district to avoid. Today it's a very happening  place with cafes, bars and night clubs.

Bucharest, 2011

I am sharing my world with the community at MyWorld Tuesday.

Glad they made that quarter a place of good life.

Lucky you to be seeing spring-like weather in such a charming place. Also, nice and wise to restore these precious historical buildings so that people can freely wander and enjoy the scene. The streets and atmosphere look friendly. Thanks for sharing this part of your journey.

The only way I'll ever travel to such places is through blogs like yours. The Bucharest shown here looks quite charming. I'm glad the atmosphere there has changed.

It is so wonderful when cities decide to clean up their city centers and make them the hustling. bustling wonderful place to be that they once were....just in a more modern way. I love seeing all the cafe tables ousted and the people milling about having a grand old time. Your pictures make me feel like I am there. Beautiful, colorful captures.

Wonderful to see the old buildings restored and welcoming, Francisca. Yes, we'll be on the same continent soon, and hopefully enjoying nice weather at the same time as well.

Bucharest is one of the must see destinations in the world. It is called the "Little Paris of the East" and this nickname is not ironic. It is a very beautiful city and anyone who has not been there yet should consider visiting it! :)
